My name is Brian Zimmerman, owner of Independence Lifestyle which brings First Deer with a Bow to life. I started this program with two main intents:

1. To help people become more independent.

2. To connect people to nature and their ancestors.

At some point all of our ancestors lived from the land and acquired sustenance from the wild. They hunted and gathered the food they needed to survive. Today, the grocery store far removes the work that it takes to survive in nature. This removal of work has created a great disconnect and lack of appreciation of food and what our ancestors went through to bring us, as a people, to where we are today. Closing the gap of misunderstanding will help grow a population of people who feel more connected to the wild that surrounds them. Making them a part of nature instead of an intruder in nature.

At Independence Lifestyle, we believe that the more independent each person is in their own life the better the world will be. Learning to bow hunt, gives an individual many skills. Being able to procure your own food, practicing resourcefulness, problem solving and valuing life.

We believe that the experience of successfully harvesting your first deer with a bow is a transformative experience that will empower you to become an independent, responsible and respectful human.

The world needs a lot more of that!
